Little Red is on the Move

As of last Thursday (22/09/2011) Little Red started crawling forward. He was a little slow and unsure at first but now he is off. I really did forget how quickly they can get from one place to the next. I need eyes in the back of my head! Emily is pretty good at telling tales so if Declan is touching something he shouldn't then I usually hear about it. He actually seems a bit happier since he has started crawling, with his new lease of freedom he thinks he can do whatever he wants. His favourite place is the DVDs on the TV shelf and the cords at the back of the TV. The two words used in our house the most at the moment are "Declan, No" or "No Declan". He usually stops in his tracks, turns his head around, Smiles his cheeky smile and then often he continues on to wherever he was going - Cheeky Boy!
I love it how when he is crawling around he is usually babbling away to himself. You can kind of see it in the photos below. I think we might have another chatterbox on our hands!

Happy 9 months Little Red

Declan is 9 months old today. I still wonder where the time has gone.
My friend Jenny said in her blog about her little girl Isabelle, that when they reach 9 months they are now longer out than in. I'm not sure which 9 months have been harder - The 9 months of continuous vomiting or the 9 months of reflux?
Declan can be an absolute joy at times and his smile lights up any room. His giggle makes my heart sing. It always makes me smile when I'm feeding him carrot or pumpkin (or something of that colour) that it really matches his hair. He is an active boy and even though he still can't crawl forward he seems to be able to get anywhere in reverse. He spins around on his tummy or on his bottom, susses out where he wants to go and puts the reverse beep on and away he goes. I kind of think it takes more thinking to do it this way so watch out when he starts going forward! Yesterday I caught him pulling up on the side of his cot so I'm thinking he may be one of those children that manages to escape - HELP!!
He has a few sounds (Mum, Dad, Bub etc) and seems like he is trying to have a conversation. Emily thinks he is too noisy though and asks him to stop because "he is too loud, and I don't like it" - wait until he can actually talk.
He claps hands and has just recently started waving which is really cute. His wave is moving his fingers into his palm and out again. It is quite cute to watch as he watches his hand like it doesn't belong to him.
He shakes his head at the funniest things and often in the highchair when he isn't ready for another mouthful of food.

Anyway....Happy 9 months Little Red
Lots of Love

Declan thinks....

That mummy juggling anything, be it mandarins, balls or building blocks is hilarious. When Daddy juggles he has a blank look on his face.

Emily is sick again

Well our little girl is sick again with another virus. Poor little thing has had such a bad run of it. She really was only better for a couple of weeks after suffering from bad post viral fatigue from her last virus. Yesterday I took her to daycare, she was complaining of being cold but I didn't think much of it (Bad Mum!). Anyway a couple of hours later daycare called to say she had a high temp and just wasn't herself. I bought her home and she has a runny tummy, high temp, complaining of having sore arms and being cold. She fell asleep on the couch.
A nasty rash appeared yesterday all over her chest and parts of her arms and some of it wouldn't go away when touched so the doctor asked us to come down. It seems to be just a viral rash and we are very thankful it isn't meningitis.

Such a turn around the happy little girl that was in the photos at Jackson's birthday party. Jackson is sick too. He has 2 ear infections poor wee thing.
Declan has a cold and a bit of a cough and is just super grizzly. He could be teething. I found his 3rd tooth on Sunday so there could be more coming.

I was up quite a few times last night. 3 times for Emily and about 4 times for Declan. Declan just needed a cuddle and to be put back down. Emily's rash was itchy and sore so I needed to put some cream on her. She can still say the funniest things when she sick. I turned the light on to put her cream on and she said to me "Mummy, in the morning I think you need to brush your hair!" - just love it. Of course I'm going to look like a train wreck at 2am!

On another note. Declan has really mastered the art of crawling backwards but still can't go forwards. Has also mastered the art of getting from sitting to crawling and back again. He is also trying to reach up and pull stuff down. Just wish he wouldn't try and get up on to the wood basket or the TV cabinet.

Well better go do some stuff. Emily is asleep on the couch (again) and Declan is  asleep in his cot! Very rare that I have both kids asleep.

Jackson's Birthday Party

Our nephew Jackson turned 2 last week and he had a birthday party at his play centre on Saturday morning. Time certainly flies, I can't believe that Jackson is 2. That means in just over 3 months our Little Red will be a year old. Where does the time go?
Becca asked me to take some pictures at his party so here are some of them.

Here is the Birthday Boy Jackson

Here is his baby sister Amelia

 They all loved the swings

This is Jackson's little friend Jesse. I snapped these photos and I love how it looks like he is doing a wee against the fence, and then when he is walking back towards me it looks like he is pulling up his pants.

We all hope you enjoyed your party Jackson. It looks like everyone had fun!

Afternoon tea picnic at Motukaraka point

Emily spends thursdays with her Gran (Matt's Mum) and she absolutely loves it! Earlier this week she asked me if she could spend everyday with her Gran (a way to make her mum feel loved!) I told her that Gran works and she just asks "Why?"
Today Declan and I joined Emily, Gran and GG (Great Gran) at Motukaraka point for a picnic afternoon tea. We had Lemon cake which was made by Gran and it was delicious. I was given a piece and I was holding Declan and his little chubby hand was just trying to grab the cake off me! Every time I tried to break a bit off for him to put in his mouth he was trying to grab the whole piece of cake - Little monkey.
Declan was a happy little boy today and it is days like this that I just love being a stay at home mum. The little smiles and giggles from Emily and Declan make my heart sing!

Here are some photos from our trip.

Look at that RED hair, BLUE eyes and CHUBBY Cheeks

Took some pics of Little Red today. Look at that RED hair, BLUE eyes and CHUBBY cheeks.
Our days are spent mostly at home. Playing with toys, rolling around the floor and trying to crawl. Declan can go backwards but hasn't mastered the art of going forwards yet. He is rocking on all fours and today he went from rocking on all fours to the sitting position. I wonder how long it will be until he crawls. Could be days, weeks or months!
The nights seem a bit better. He usually can go from his 10pm ish feed to about 5am. Sometimes he wakes before then but Mummy just needs to go in and tell him it is sleep time and he usually goes back to sleep. Hopefully soon he will be sleeping right through the night!
