A Short Trip To The Park

Well because Emily is feeling a bit better we decided to take a wee drive and go to the park. Emily loves the swings and could probably spend all day on one. She didn't even want to go play on the playground just incase another child came and stole her swing. Never mind that the playground we went to is down a hill and probably doesn't get used that much. Especially in winter.

Declan had a go in the swing but I really don't think he likes it as much as his sister

We didn't last long at the park because I couldn't really push Emily in the swing while Declan was also in the swing. It was quite hard work pushing her because Declan is so heavy! Little Mr Grizzle Bum made his presence known and we had to leave. He was back for another sleep when we got home.
I said to Emily "I'm tired, I need to sit down, you guys are exhausting" she replied "and daddy too?"
While I was having a sit down Emily was watching the big kids across the road jumping on the trampoline. She said to me "Mummy, I wish I lived with other people", I said "Why", she replied "Because they are fun". I said, "I just took you to the park, am I not fun?" She replied "Oh yeah!"
Kids so quickly forget what you do for them - cheeky rascal!

We hope to make more trips to the park soon. Hopefully next time Declan will be a bit happier!

Jumping and a 2nd Tooth

Declan has been super grizzly these last few days and isn't happy unless he is perched on Mummy's hip. The only other place that he can be ok without grizzling or super crying is in the Jolly Jumper. We usually only put him in the Jolly Jumper once a day at the routine time of about 5.30pm (the last stretch before the bath). However the last two days I just can't handle carrying him around so he has gone in at about 10.30am before lunch (which he is also screaming through too). I thought that maybe he is getting what Emily had as he has a runny nose and it just not happy but I stuck my finger in his mouth to find another tooth!
He usually is a lot happier in the Jolly Jumper with lots of smiles but today when I took these photos I think he was somewhat distracted by his sister having a massive tantrum about packing up the duplo that she had been playing with! 3 Year olds huh! At least the tantrum shows signs of a little improvement in her health. Or it could be the fact that she wants to see her Gran today but Gran had to take GG (Great Gran) into the hospital as she is very breathless and has a very bad cough. The Fraters haven't had the best health of late. We hope GG gets better soon. xox

Sick Little Girl

So our little girl has been sick with the flu (or some sort of virus) for a while now. She came down with it last wednesday and couldn't even move on thursday, so because I was a bit worried I took her to the doctor. Yesterday she hadn't shown any signs of improvement so we went back to the doctor. He said to expect her to still be sick until the end of the week.
Anyway last night she had a very bad night and started vomiting. We had lots of changes of clothes and even had to change the sheets on our bed as she was having a cuddle with Mummy. Bunny had to be washed this morning as she shared with him too. Emily was not happy that Bunny was being washed and I'm glad that the dryer dried him super fast.
I phoned the doctor back and they wanted to see her again. Apparently she shouldn't be vomiting and should be getting better! After going to the doctor he decided that she should be getting better, her temp should be coming down and she was a bit dehydrated and he wanted Emily to be observed in at Wellington hospital. So off we went.... We had a visit of quite a few hours in the childrens day ward. We had to try and get Emily to take on fluids and do a urine sample (to rule out a UTI). Emily was discharged with having most probably a very nasty virus. If she isn't better in a few days or if she gets worse then she needs to been seen again and really should get some bloods taken.
We are hoping that Emily is back to her normal self very soon. I'm missing the cheeky little things she says. I also miss her little feet jumping around the house as she so often does. Love you lots our sweet little girl.

Declan is growing fast

In the past few weeks Declan has mastered a few things and is just growing so quickly.
We had his 7 month plunket visit last week. He weighs 9kg and is 71.5cm tall. At this age Emily was 10.37kg (yes a lot bigger) and 73cm tall. Declan has grown so much in the last few months. He was on the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height. Now he is on about the 75th for weight and 91st for height.

Here is what has been happening with Declan over the last few weeks.

4th July
Declan rolled for the first time from his back to his tummy.

8th July
Declan is rolling a lot from his tummy to back but can't roll back. He gets so frustrated that he puts both arms out to the side, head face down on the floor and cries - It really resembles a tantrum!

9th July
We think Declan has mastered the art of sitting today.

10th July
After a lot of frustration Declan has figured out how to roll back from his tummy, making for a much happier boy!

20th July
Declan has learnt how to clap his hands. He is very happy with himself, especially when he makes the actual "clap" sound.

24th July
We found today that our little boy no longer has a gummy smile (not that you can quite tell) but he has cut his first tooth.

25th July
I took some photos today of Declan and even though I knew he had red hair, I couldn't believe how red it really did look until I had a look at the photos!

Funny Things Emily says

We have been keeping a diary of the funny little things that Emily says so we don't forget the precious moments. Here are some of them.

8th June
Emily: "Mummy, why does it keep raining?"
Jo: "Not Sure"
Emily: "God is Naughty, he needs to stop the rain"

12th June
Emily: "I was nice and I shared my cough with Declan, and now he has given it back!"

14th June
I was hanging out the washing on the inside line and Emily was                drawing
Emily: "Can you draw Mummy?"
Jo: "Yeah, I just need to finish this washing"
Emily: "Daddy's Naughty Mummy, he never does housework, you do lots - High Five!"

22nd July
Emily has been sick with the flu and went to the doctor yesterday as she could hardly move. Poor girl. Anyways I asked her if she felt any better? Emily replied "Not really, the Doctor didn't do very well!"

Introducing Our Family Blog

Well We decided to start a blog of our little Family. This photo was taken nearly a couple of months ago. It is crazy how quickly the little Fraters grow.
